Got those summer vacation reservations in place yet? Going somewhere fun, exciting or adventurous this year? Well, it's the summer travel season.
Can you believe its here already? I sure can't.
I remember as a child all the great places we visited each year as a family.
Looking back it was sure a lot of fun.
But I also remember all the work involved with planning for each trip.
Well, as your thinking about what you need to pack in your suitcase, I thought I'd put together a few quick tips for you to help you make your trip not only a smooth and enjoyable experience but also a naturally healthy one too for yourself and your family.
1: Manage Stress, take Rescue Remedy by Bach: With the summer travel season, particularly if you're planning on flying, it can and most likely will mean the possibility of large crowds, long lines and delayed flights.
Even for experienced business travelers, these kinds of situations can be very stressful and stress takes its toll on your body.
If you can try to maintain an easy going, light-hearted, positive attitude while you're traveling, this will reduce your stress level and leave you less likely to be susceptible to whatever germs you may come across while en route.
Try packing Rescue Remedy by Bach to help you through those challenging moments.
Rescue Remedy is a combination of 5 Bach Flower Essences which is highly effective in treating emotional trauma or shock as in the case of emergencies or accidents.
However, you can also use Rescue Remedy for any stressful situation which causes high stress, fear or anxiety to help calm your emotions and your nerves.
Rescue Remedy will help restore you to a more normal emotional balance again so you can deal with the situation more calmly and confidently.
2: Take lot's of water: Don't forget to take plenty of water.
With higher temperatures and humidity levels, plus long days of traveling, for optimum health, your body will need lot's of water to stay well hydrated to be able to ward off the entrances of any harmful germs in addition to also helping rid itself of its own internal toxins while you are traveling.
Health experts recommend that you drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day, however while traveling this can be very challenging to try to do.
So pack a few bottles in your suitcase or carry on before you leave (note: you won't be able to carry any open bottles with you through airport security) or purchase a few bottles while you're waiting for your flight to depart.
Thankfully, water is sold inexpensively and just about anywhere you look.
When your body is well hydrated you'll feel much better physically and have the energy and stamina you need to handle those long days of traveling more effectively.
3: Take your natural vitamin supplements: When you're busy getting ready for a trip, it's easy to forget about packing your natural vitamins and supplements.
After all, when will you have the time to take them anyway? However, when we're traveling, the truth is, that's when our bodies need them the most.
Consider taking along with you natural, herbal vitamins and antioxidant supplement powder packets that you just add water to and drink.
This is a great way to get your vitamins and boost your immunity as well as hydrate your body too while you are traveling.
Or you can also pack your favorite vitamin drinks with the water already in them, whichever you prefer and have room for in your bag are fine.
Both ways work well, taste delicious and are quick and easy to use.
4: Eat natural, healthy foods: If your diet is high in sugar, fat, processed foods or chemical additives, then your body is being polluted with excess toxins that it may not be able to clean and flush out effectively or normally.
Excess toxins in the body cause fatigue and sluggishness and have also been attributed to many health problems, diseases and conditions.
While your traveling instead of fast food look for natural groceries or delis, fresh fruit stands, or farmer's markets.
Fresh fruits and vegetables contain many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that will help detoxify and cleanse your body.
You also want to have a sufficient amount of fiber.
Fiber facilitates the removal of wastes and cleanses your intestinal tract.
Regular elimination of waste from the body is very essential to overall good health for your body.
Also, don't overeat and limit yourself to one treat or splurge a day.
5: Pack a good sunscreen: Chances are many of us will be headed this year to a beautiful beach or possibly a warm clear fresh water lake somewhere for swimming, boating or just plain relaxing on the shore.
So don't forget to pack a good sunscreen.
A good tip for selecting a good sunscreen protection product and your SPF level, (an abbreviation for sun-protection factor), is to take a look at the numbers such as 15, 30 or 50, which indicate how long the topical sunscreen will remain effective on your skin.
Then you can determine the time duration of its effectiveness by multiplying the SPF number by the average length of time it takes for your skin to start suffering a burn without sunscreen.
So if your sunscreen SPF is 15 and you typically start burning in about 10 minutes, then you'll have 150 minutes of protection from your sunscreen.
Experts recommend at least an SPF level 30 for effective skin cancer protection.
A few more helpful tips for you when shopping for a good sunscreen are to look for a sunscreen that has UVA as well as UVB protection, contains natural ingredients for the care of your skin, and if you're planning on being in the water a lot, is waterproof.
