Cocker Spaniel Biting: How to Kick This Habit

The smallest of the sporting breeds, the Cocker Spaniel, needs a small space to play around, eats fewer food than its bigger counterparts, and fun to play with.
It is true that this canine breed loves to enjoy itself.
However, it gets excited too easily and practically pees uncontrollably unless trained to keep still on signal.
Part of its getting too excited is its propensity to chew and bite on anything.
As a puppy, you have to train your Cocker Spaniel biting on a chew toy rather on your clothes or furniture.
But, you have to observe well if your puppy would be tired of its chew toys, it will look for other things to bite.
So, you have to see if it has favorite chew toys.
If that is the case, you can buy the identical chew toys that resemble its favorite.
It needs a lot of them.
It is not a good idea to let your kids play with your Cocker Spaniel without your guidance.
A tug of war game is not okay because it teaches your dog to compete.
Next time around you might see your Cocker Spaniel biting on your furniture that reminds it about the game with your kids who are stronger than her.
It is better if you remind your kids that your dog learns easily.
Train your pup until it grows older to exercise before retiring to bed.
Running after a tennis ball and returning the ball to you is one simple exercise that can get your Cocker Spaniel biting on the tennis ball instead of other stuff inside your home that you do not want your dog to chew or bite on.
Being depressed is another factor that turns your Cocker Spaniel to acquire the bad habit of biting.
It does not like to be left alone the all day.
If you have to leave your house, always make sure to have somebody take over to guard your dog.
Since it has simple needs, you just have to give her company.
Placing a bed for your pup inside your bedroom will make her feel comfortable and assured that she sleeps with you.
Jealousy is a possible cause why the habit of your Cocker Spaniel biting on anything without any reason has developed to be unpleasant.
It is no longer cute to see your pup being destructive and it is easy to lick if you have detected the jealousy that is brewing or has exploded into a real issue for your dog.
All you have to do is keep your dog back to the same old ways to stroking her coat, playing the game of "catch the tennis ball", and telling your kids to keep a distance until it goes back to normal.
Cocker Spaniel biting habit is annoying sometimes that some dog owners think of not recommending this breed to people planning to get a new dog.
But, when you are able to kick the habit away from your dog, you would be experiencing a worry-free life with her.
The dog can ease your tensions and entertain you with her funny antics.
One final word on this - your dog deserves your attention and understanding.
Why do you not give her just something to do and she would keep herself busy? After an hour of activity that takes her mind off to biting, she will be fast asleep happy and tired.
