    • 1). Turn off the monitor and computer and unplug the cable connecting the two. Reconnect the cable to the computer and monitor, ensuring the cable connection is secure and screwed in tight. Reboot the computer and turn on the monitor to see if the flickering is gone.

    • 2). Use another cable to connect your monitor to your computer to determine if you have a bad cable. If you do not have more than one monitor connection cable, you can purchase a new one from most office supply stores. As of 2010, the price is around $10.

    • 3). Check the back of your monitor to ensure the power supply cable is securely connected, as well as checking to ensure the plug is firmly inserted in your wall outlet. Sometimes the power supply to the monitor can become loose or unplugged.

    • 4). Reboot your computer, click the Windows Start button, then "Run." Type "task scheduler," then press "Enter" on your keyboard. When task scheduler opens, expand the menu from "Microsoft" to "Windows" and click "Mobile PC." You will see a task called "TMM" (transient multi-monitor manager); click on it and select "Disable." If you notice the option is already disabled, try to enable it to see if that fixes the problem.
