Stop Ignoring the Signs
Do you know or recognize the signs telling you that you are exercising too much? Are you ignoring them? Well if you do not know them or you are ignoring them then it is time for you to stop doing that before it becomes detrimental to your health.
The signs of too much exercise can be seen in both the physical and psychological states.
Let us discuss the physical signs.
When you over exercise you increase the risk of you suffering from chronic muscle cramps and soreness.
You use your muscles whenever you exercise and by not allowing them adequate time for resting and recovering from a good physical workout, they will become overused.
At this point, you start feeling intense cramps and soreness for prolonged periods.
A cause of this may be that you are not supplying your body with enough energy-rich foods to be broken down and thus produce the energy needed by the body.
As a result, you body starts burning the fat in your muscles and this causes the muscles to be easily worn down.
This also increases the incidence of muscle injuries.
With your muscles not being able to rest and repair themselves, you are placing great strain on them.
Eventually, the result will be torn muscles where contraction results in great pain.
If you watch athletic competitions then it is more than likely that you have seen athletes limping or even not being able to stand without feeling muscle pains.
They are experiencing the effects of a torn muscle or ligament.
If the problem is not taken care of quickly and efficiently, then it may not be possible to correct it again.
This decreases the athlete's performance levels or may even end his athletic career.
Another sign of over-exercising is the loss of coordination.
When you exercise too much your body becomes exhausted and when this happen you are unable to take in enough oxygen needed by your organs, one of which is the brain.
When there is depletion in the oxygen going to the brain, the brain becomes stifled and starts shutting down.
When this happens, there is a loss of coordination, meaning that your brain is unable to tell the rest of your body what to do.
You may also experience headaches, mild disorientation or even a loss of consciousness.
Your cardiovascular system is one of the systems in the body that is greatly affected when you exercise too much.
With exercise, your heart works overtimes to pump the oxygen around the body and to remove the carbon dioxide and heat from the muscles.
The heart is also a muscle so if it does not get adequate rest periods it will become exhausted.
When you exercise, your heart rate is increased and if this continues for a prolonged period then it goes through a heightened state where the rate remains elevated, even during times of rest and especially in the mornings.
Your blood pressure is also elevated and if this continues then there may be the possibility of your blood vessels rupturing which if not corrected will result in death.
Other signs of excessive exercise include loss of appetite, prolonged recovery and disturbed sleep patterns.
When you exercise, too much your body alternates between a heightened state and that of extreme fatigue and tiredness.
As a result, you are unable to maintain regular sleeping patterns.
You may be extremely tired during the day, restless, and unable to sleep at nights.
When this happens, your body is unable to get adequate rest and so cannot recover from any illnesses.
When your body becomes too tired, you also lose your appetite and this further inhibits recovery since you are not getting all the nutrients that your body needs.
