• EA Sports debuted a new game engine in FIFA 07 to make the player images more responsive than ever before seen in previous years' releases. This new system implemented a vast array of attribute qualities for each player, skills that would rise and decline contingent on actual in-game performance. In order for strikers to dominate game play in FIFA 07, players must have high ranking abilities in attacking, dexterity and shot power. • The attack attribute in FIFA 07 signifies a combination of both speed and dribbling skill. Players with attack attributes lower than 50 should be considered sub-par players who will struggle when attempting to set up offensive rushes. Average attacking players with attack ratings between 60 and 75 can work well together as a group, while strikers with ratings of 75 and above demonstrate tremendous speed and dexterity to break away from defensive congestion and set up scoring opportunities. • The power and accuracy attributes in FIFA 07 relate to a striker's ability to strike kicks with force and precision from both short and long ranges. Strikers with high power ratings, between 75 and 100, have the ability to score from well outside the penalty box. But strikers with too much power can often kick wayward shots. Strikers with high accuracy ratings are nimble inside and around the penalty box and goal box areas, and can sneak shots past goalies without relying on power. • The debut of the mentality attribute in FIFA 07 separates offense- and defense-minded players, and influences how they react during different situations on the pitch. Strikers with high markers for offensive mentality not only excel in scoring situations but also in counterattacks and midfield possessions that can lead to offensive chances. Offense-minded players head for clearings to receive passes from midfielders and clearances from backs after defensive stops. Particularly keen offense-minded strikers in FIFA 07 include Barcelona's Lionel Messi and FC Köln's Lukas Podolski.
