Online shopping is on the increase and many "brick and mortar shops" are now opening online stores to meet this trend.
In 2009, the Industry of Canada sponsored a report showing that "Canadians used the Internet in 2009 to place orders for goods and services valued at $15.
1 billion".
This figure showed an increase of $2.
3 billion from 2007.
Whilst online shopping is on the increase, many people are still hesitant about taking the plunge.
Knowing what to look for when shopping online will certainly make your shopping experience easier and more enjoyable.
First, make sure the images and descriptions on the site are clear so you can see exactly what you are purchasing.
The price of the goods, as well as the postage rates, should be clearly stated so you can see that there are no hidden costs prior to purchasing the items.
Next, check the store's return policy so that if you do order the incorrect size, you will know what (if anything) you can do about it.
Be sure to visit a third party review site to see what type of reviews (good or bad) the site has received.
Advantages: You don't have to leave home or fight for a parking space Price comparison shopping is easier and you don't have to walk from store to store You can shop when the stores are closed If you live in a remote or rural area, you sill have access to the stores The items can be delivered directly to you at home or work You can shop when you are ill You can send the items back for exchange if they aren't suitable There are no pushy salespeople Disadvantages: You have to wait for the goods to arrive You are not able to see the goods before purchasing Internet shopping promotes impulse shopping Your items may get delayed or lost in the post You are not able to try the goods on The goods or the store may not meet your expectations When shopping online you also have a responsibility to the store.
Make sure you truly want the item and know your sizes before purchasing the goods.
Make sure you give the correct address and payment details when ordering.
Make sure you order your goods well in advance of the day you require them.
If you are in any doubt about something, then ask questions.
This will help you decide whether or not the goods you are going to purchase will be right for you and this will lessen any problems you may face when ordering.
