    • 1). Measure the length and width of the room. Take the measurements to determine the precise location of any obstacles in the room such as kitchen cabinets or the vanity in a bathroom. Provide these measurements when ordering radiant heat flooring products, as the radiant heat mats are customized to fit the space.

    • 2). Unroll the radiant heat mat on the floor and position it according to the specifications provided by the manufacturer. This design provides for obstacles in the space like kitchen islands or bathroom plumbing.

    • 3). Ask a professional electrician to ensure electricity flows through the mats and to install the thermostat for the radiant floor mats. The warranty may be voided if a licensed electrician doesn't install the thermostat.

    • 4). Attach the radiant heat floor mats to the sub flooring. In most cases, the mats are sticky and simply need to be pressed into place. In other cases, it may be necessary to staple the mats to the sub floor. Avoid stapling over the wires that provide the heat.

    • 5). Install the final flooring product over the radiant heat mats.
