Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Help
- The toolbox is set to load automatically when you open Adobe Photoshop for the first time. To open the toolbox, select Window > Tools from the menu. You can open the options bar by selecting Window > Options and clicking on a tool in the toolbox. To move the options bar to a different location in the work area, drag the gripper bar on the left and move the box to a different location.
To create a new image in Photoshop, select File > New and set the width and height for your image. Select the resolution and background color and click "OK." Choose a tool from the toolbox to begin creating your image. To work with an image already created, select File > Open and double click the file name to place it into Photoshop. - You can change the size of your work canvas by selecting Image > Canvas Size. Changing the size of your canvas allows you to remove unneeded space surrounding your image. Set the height and width for your canvas or place a check mark by "Relative." Click "OK."
Photoshop 7.0 lets you rotate your canvas at a 180 degree angle, 90 degree CW (clockwise) angle, 90 degree CCW (counterclockwise) angle, arbitrary angle or flip it horizontally or vertically. To rotate an image, select Image > Rotate Canvas and choose a rotation. - You can crop your image using the Crop tool by selecting the area of the image you would like to retain and click Image > Crop. To trim your image, select Image > Trim. Select the area you would like to trim--bottom, top, left or right.
- The Layers palette allows you to place elements of your image on different layers. To open the Layers palette, select Window > Layers. To make an element on a layer visible, select the layer and click the "Layer Visibility" icon.
Add a new layer to the Layers palette by selecting "Layer, New, Layer." To create a layer set, select "Layer > New > Layer Set. To duplicate a layer, drag the layer into the New Layer button at the bottom of the Layers palette. You can reset or change the order of your layer by dragging the layer above or below another.
