How to Remove Stems on Strawberries

    • 1). Place the strawberries in a colander and rinse them under cool water. Remove and discard any crushed, bruised or otherwise damaged berries.

    • 2). Gather leaves up and around the stem, revealing the stem base. Hold the strawberry in your weaker hand once you gather the leaves away from the berry.

    • 3). Push the point of a paring knife into the strawberry at the base of the stem. Angle the blade slightly as you push it in, so the tip angles underneath the stem section.

    • 4). Cut around the stem, keeping the knife angled as you do so. Cut until you have made a circle around the entire stem.

    • 5). Lift the strawberry stem out of the berry. When cut at the right angle, the tough core is attached to the stem, forming a cone shape at the base of the stem.
