Shifting homes are stressful not only to humans but for pets too.
In fact, pets are more disturbed if they see their owners stressed out.
Once you finish the process of shifting, you need to train your dog to get adjusted to the new home.
This requires attention, affection and patience as you have to give enough time for your pet to understand the place.
Ensure that you keep the place "dog proof" and remove any potential hazards.
For example, household chemicals like pesticides, rodent poison, poisonous plants, small objects that could choke, and small openings that could act as an escape route should be removed.
Vacuum your house thoroughly as soon as you shift in.
This would remove the dust and small objects that could get into the throat.
Remove poisonous plants like poinsettias, hydrangeas, irises and other plant varieties that are harmful for your pet.
Keep household chemicals and cleaning supplies out of reach from your pet.
Prepare a dog bed in a comfortable corner for him to settle down.
Keep the water container and food bowl in a place that he could get easily used to.
Ensure that adequate food supply is ready as soon as you shift in.
Bring along certain toys that he enjoys to play with so that he would feel at home.
Reward him with tasty treats gradually when he shows improvements.
Allow him to wander or explore the new surroundings under your supervision.
Take him out for walk regularly so that he is also aware of his surroundings.
