    • 1). Remove reminders of your previous relationship. Remove pictures of you and your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend. Discontinue wearing any jewelry he or she may have given you. You don’t have to throw anything out, but don’t leave it lying around the house. If you don’t have the heart to shred it to pieces or throw it in the trash, put it away in storage.

    • 2). Go out with your friends. Spend time with your friends. Laugh and have a good time. This will help you to stop focusing on your old relationship. Go to a movie or the mall. Go out to a restaurant. Order a shake or hot fudge sundae. Have some fun!

    • 3). Watch a funny movie. Now is not the time to watch a romantic movie that will remind you of the relationship you had. Instead, rent a movie that will make you laugh, such as “Wild Hogs” or “Daddy Day Care.”

    • 4). Go to the gym. Exercise is great for your body and your mind. Get out of the house and go to the gym. Run on the treadmill. Swim in the pool. Then sit in the hot tub. Spend some time relaxing. After you are done exercising, you’ll feel a lot better.

    • 5). Get a manicure and pedicure. After a bad breakup, you might feel like you’re not good enough for anyone. Yes, your self-esteem may be low. Pamper yourself by getting a manicure and pedicure. It is relaxing, and you’ll leave with beautiful looking nails.

    • 6). Serve others. The best way to forget your worries is to help those around you. Perhaps you have a friend or family member who needs help cleaning his or her house. Maybe you have an older neighbor who needs help with grocery shopping. Not only will you be helping those around you, but you’ll be helping yourself as well.

    • 7). Make a list of your good qualities. After a breakup, it is normal to feel like there is something wrong with you. You can overcome this feeling of worthlessness by creating a list of the good qualities you have. Keep the list with you. Whenever you start feeling bad about the breakup, take out your list and read about your good qualities.
