Stop the Divorce Now and Save Your Relationship

Stopping a divorce can only happen if you can talk your partner into giving the relationship another chance.
This is not the easiest thing to do.
If they have gotten to the point of filing for divorce, their mind is mostly made up.
If you can't convince them to give it one more chance then there is no stopping the divorce.
If you can get them to reconsider then you have a good chance of the divorce being put on hold for a while.
Because if they are willing to give it one more chance then they are serious about making it work.
At this point you have been probably pleading with your partner to give you another chance to save the relationship.
This needs to stop.
One piece of advice given to couples that have been dating and have broken up is to stop communicating.
This might sound like it is counter intuitive but it works.
People need time to think, control their behavior, and get a handle on their emotions.
Don't Lower Yourself You see the problem with pleading or begging your partner to reconsider, is it will have the opposite effect you are looking for.
They will be turned off by this behavior and it will convince them that divorce is the right decision, because after all who wants to be around this type of person.
So you must start acting like the mature adult you are.
Start showing more confidence in who you are and remind them of the person they fell in love with.
When you can have a calm conversation about the way you feel, and why you want to save the relationship, your partner will see you in a different light.
You will be pleasantly surprised by your partner's reception to this behavior.
At this point you can describe your feelings of just how deeply hurt you are, and why you want, and deserve one more chance.
When this is done in a calm manner without any drama, your chance of convincing your partner to give you that second chance increase dramatically.
And the prospect of them putting the divorce on hold will also improve.
Seek Help Together This is a great time to suggest getting professional help.
Couples counseling is a great first step.
This will show them just how serious you are about stopping the divorce and your desire to straighten out your relationship.
You must be prepared for things to come out in counseling.
It is possible that something you didn't even know was an issue could come up.
You must be willing to deal with these issues and change things about yourself if necessary.
If you put your best foot forward and show your partner just how serious you are, then you could convince them to put the divorce on permanent hold.
But you must change.
Let's face it if they are filing for divorce, then there are plenty of things that are bad in the relationship.
These things just don't go away because they have given you a second chance.
You have to work on yourself and the relationship.
Remember they were ready to file for divorce maybe they already filed and just have to sign off on it.
If you don't show real change it will be just as easy for them to start divorce proceedings again.
IF they have already attempted it once, you know they will do it again.
Stopping the divorce was one thing, now you have to keep the relationship you have won back.
This is just the beginning of the road back to a loving relationship.
