    Paint

    • Paint the walls, woodwork and trim lavender. Paint all the furniture ivory or cream, using a semi-gloss acrylic enamel. Stencil flowers on the furniture such as lilacs, lavender and violets, using craft paints and a sponge brush. Paint a "garden" on one wall using large stencils, let it dry completely, then stencil an ivory- or cream-colored picket fence over it. Position the fence so that flowers appear to grow over the top of it and peek between the pickets.

      Paint the walls deep purple. Let the paint dry, then apply a faux finish or glaze in shades of lavender and lilac. When finished, the deep purple should show only in random areas, as a background detail. Paint bedroom furniture white and outline the edges of drawers in lavender. Add new drawer pulls in white with a purple flower design..

    Fabrics

    • Make a lavender bedspread. Cut out squares of floral fabric with lavender and purple detail and arrange the squares in rows on the bedspread top. Place strips of lavender ribbon across the tops and bottoms of the squares in horizontal rows, then along the left and right sides of the pictures in vertical rows. Pin the ribbon strips and squares to the bedspread and sew into place.

      Make a matching pillow by cutting two squares of lavender fabric in whatever size you like. Cut smaller squares of floral fabric and strips of ribbon to fit on one square. Pin the ribbon strips and fabric squares in place in the same way as the bedspread and sew them to one of the larger lavender fabric squares. Sew the two larger lavender squares together, leaving an opening for stuffing. Turn the pillow right-side out, stuff it with fiberfill, and sew the opening closed.

      Make valances for the windows with the floral fabric. Cover a small round table with a tablecloth made from the lavender fabric, and make a topper with the floral fabric.

      Alternatively, sew or fuse purchased appliques to the bedspread rather than making floral squares. Use princesses, animals or anything your little girl loves. Make the pillows with smaller versions of the appliques. Make plain lavender valences and tablecloth, and a white table topper with a lavender applique in its center.

    Flooring

    • Make a floor cloth for the center of the room. Cut a piece of heavy canvas, denim or cotton duck in whatever size you like. Iron it to remove the wrinkles Cut out squares of patterned fabrics to form a quilt design, cut silhouettes from patterned fabrics, or use appliques. Experiment with patterns and placement on the floor cloth until you find a look you like. Apply a double-sided iron-on fusible product to one side of the canvas, denim or cotton duck. Peel off the paper backing. Arrange the squares, silhouettes or appliques on the now-exposed adhesive and iron them into place. Fold wide ribbon in half and glue it around the edges of the floor cloth. Be sure to use a non-slip pad underneath it.

      Crochet a rug in shades of lavender and plum, using rug yarn and a large crochet hook. Make matching drapery tassels by winding yarn around a cardboard rectangle. Make one longer loop that extends past the cardboard to use for hanging the tassel. Slip the yarn loops off the cardboard.and tie a piece of matching yarn around them about a third of the way from the top, knotting it tightly, and trim the ends. Cut the bottoms of the loops open and trim them to a uniform length.
