- Get a good sounding guitar, electric or acoustic, that stays in tune, with decent neck action (little space between the neck and strings which allows you to play guitar easier).
- Pick out just 1 favorite song and find the sheet music with guitar chords (most sheet music shows the guitar chords above each measure).
If you have a favorite artist or band, buy their songbook with chords because it will be cheaper in the long run. - Using only one song at a time, start learning each chord by practicing the fingering of those chords while simply strumming down with a pick with your other hand.
- Once you know the chords, start learning the song and the chord changes, and pretty soon you'll be able to strum the entire song from start to finish.
This is absolutely the best way to learn guitar quickly because you stay motivated by learning your favorite songs and it's definitely the cheapest route to becoming a guitar god!
