How to Become an LPN in a Shorter Time
- 1). Search for a state-approved LPN program on the website for the National Association for Practical Nurse Education & Service (NAPNES). This organization provides an online search feature allowing users to find programs by location.
- 2). Contact the programs in your area. Most programs last approximately one year---though this can vary and should be taken into consideration. Request that the school send you any additional information they have on the program as well to give you a feel for the school environment and learning atmosphere of each school.
- 3). Ask about the enrollment procedure at each school or program. Some programs offer open enrollment while others only accept new LPN students on an annual basis. This makes a difference of several months, depending on when the next enrollment session occurs.
- 4). Inquire about waiting lists for the LPN programs you are considering attending. Schools want to graduate as many quality LPN students as possible, but due to space or staff limitations, waiting lists may sometimes occur. Choose a school without a waiting list to avoid this problem and become an LPN in a shorter length of time.
