Walking or running on a treadmill for exercise can become a little boring if you don't have some form of entertainment to help pass the time.
You can only daydream so much and then even your daydreams get boring.
In order to make a treadmill exercise program work, you must have something to stop you from getting bored.
At a gym you can watch other people as they exercise, you can look out the window or you can move to different machines.
If you have your treadmill at home, you don't have those options.
Other forms of entertainment are called for.
Here are 3 ways that you can make your home treadmill experience more fun and enjoyable.
Listen To Music You might say that this is a no brainer.
Probably the number one thing that people do on a treadmill, other than walk on it, is listen to music.
Since it is in your home you might have a small stereo right next to your machine.
You could bring in wireless speakers and use the music from your home entertainment system.
Of course there is the old standby method of using your MP3 player, this is the method I prefer because I can play my music and not disturb anyone.
The family really appreciates this.
You can have your computer by your treadmill and play downloadable music or stream it live from a radio station.
A good mix of music makes the time fly by and before you know it, your workout is over.
Watch Travel Videos If you have your treadmill in a room that has been converted to an exercise room, you might want to install a nice flat screen TV.
The size of the TV will be determined by how far you are away from it.
A 40 inch screen will be good up to about 10 feet, after that you should think about a 45 or 50 inch.
You don't even need the TV to be hooked up to cable or a dish.
All you need is a DVD player connected to the TV.
There are hundreds of travel videos (DVDs) available at your public library for free.
You can buy videos of your favorite places online or in most book stores.
You can even put all your travel pictures or home movies on a DVD and watch those.
It's great to be able to relive those memories and remember all the places you may have traveled to.
There is virtually no limit to the number of places you can visit by travel videos.
Let your imagination run wild and see the places you have always dreamed of visiting.
Listen To An Audio Book Want to read some of the bestseller books but just don't have time to sit down and read.
Why not listen to those books while you are working out.
These audio books are professionally narrated by speakers who can tell a great story and they even change their voices for each character in the book.
Reading is a wonderful activity but if you don't have the time, multi tasking while you do your workout and listening to an audio book is a very good solution.
Too many people stop their treadmill exercise programs because of boredom.
Your own company can get a little old at times.
Enhance your workout enjoyment by adding a few forms of entertainment.
Music, audio books, movies, and travel DVDs are just a few of the many ways you can entertain yourself while walking on a treadmill.
Don't give up your workout program because of boredom, get a little creative and see how much more you will enjoy getting fit.
