• The EPA offers two online training modules for laboratories: "Detecting Improper Laboratory Practices" and "Data Verification and Validation." In addition, it provides additional resources for both quality assurance and ethics training.
  
  

Training Templates

• Though the EPA provides generalized training, your employees must have information specific to your lab setting, such as what can go wrong in your facility and the procedures in place for preserving safety when accidents happen. Thankfully, some templates are available for creating your own effective ethics and data integrity training manual. One is provided by the NELAC Institute (TNI) for a fee. Another is free from New York State Department of Health's (NYSDOH) Environmental Laboratory Approval Program. This template was developed to satisfy the accreditation requirements of the NELAC Institute and cites the specific standards it satisfies.
  
  

The Future

• The NELAC Institute intends to be the wave of the future in setting laboratory standards of safety, ethics and data integrity. It has set up its own support, standards and accreditation program. It accepts both individual and organizational memberships.
