There are few careers that offer so many opportunities as the nursing profession offers. The person who chooses nursing as a career can choose to work at the bedside, in a doctor's office, schools, administration and even as a travel nurse. To be able to fulfill the dream of having a nursing career and the ability to travel is almost too good to be true. Some nurses, throughout their careers can become frustrated due to staffing ratios and higher acuity rates. Working as a travel nurse can afford the nurse to continue on in their field, as well as enjoy the benefits of travel and experience all the perks that it has to offer, including lower stress levels.

Nursing, as a rule, is a recession proof career choice. Even more so today, as the population ages and moves to warmer climates to retire, travel nurse jobs are in abundance. There are not only many opportunities in regions where the weather is warm, but there are travel nurse employment opportunities in all 50 states and abroad. Many adventurous types hesitate to choose a career in the nursing field because they feel it may hold them back and put restraints on their pursuit to travel. With so many opportunities available for nurses in other locations, some even exotic, the "wanna be traveler" has no limitations on where they can travel to and also fulfilling their desire to become a nurse.

It is important to note that even though there are many travel nurse opportunities and locations to choose from, there are still requirements that a nurse must fulfill before they can be hired in this capacity. Most travel nurses are required to have at least one year of strong clinical experience and sometimes travel positions require nurses to be proficient in a specialty area of nursing such as obstetrics or even dialysis nursing. When the nurse doesn't have other commitments, their dual dreams of traveling and nursing can become realized sooner than they think.

The travel nurse need not make a permanent commitment to traveling either. The great thing about pursuing a career in the field of travel nursing is that the nurse can accept a position in another location, and then after fulfilling their time or commitment there, if they realize that it wasn't for them, they can then return to a door wide open with other nursing opportunities. Travel nursing offers the nurse great opportunities to break away from conventional nursing, especially if the nurse chooses a job at a resort location. Many nurses are flocking to these resort locations for the benefits of pursing their chosen careers and for the feeling of being on vacation 7 days a week.

Sometimes just a temporary stint as a travel nurse can renew and rejuvenate the desire of bedside nursing and give the nurse a whole new attitude that is beneficial to themselves as well as to their patients. A good attitude is paramount in order for a nurse to function in their roles, and being a travel nurse can be just the right career choice the nurse may need to recapture a positive attitude about nursing and their patients.
