Xbox Kinect - Are You Getting The Best holiday Deal?

101 5
The xbox kinect is out and in stores for the holiday season. With 1 million consoles already sold it seems that the kinect is living up to its hype.

The advertising budget for this system has to be astronomical. You can't turn on a TV or open an internet browser window without seeing something about the Xbox Kinect. Never before have I seen so much advertising. Its no wonder they have sold 1 million consoles so far this year.

When the gaming console was first released on November 4th to the public, many stores were selling out of the console within a day. There has been alot of talk on whether or not Microsoft sent out enough kinects to the local merchants. Many people have said that they simply did not supply the merchants with the proper amount of consoles for an average opening day. So what do I have to say about that? Good for Microsoft. If you want to sell a product well make it hard to get. People will then beg for it. Consumers want what consumers can't have. Remember the tickle me Elmo doll about 5 years ago? Those were hard to find and people would pay anything to get one for their kids.Without a demand for a product you can forget your sales numbers. Its not easy to create but if you can you will reep the rewards.

Microsofts marketing strategies have always been a little on the strange side. This should not be a shock to anyone. But you can't deny how effecitve their techniques are.

One sales tactic that seems to be overlooked by everyone is that of the auction websites. These sites are generally very over priced.I found an auction site and looked up the price for an Xbox Kinect. At any retail store you can get the kinect for 150.00 but on a supposed bargain/auction site you can find them for as much as 245.00.As the weeks go by the prices will only continue to rise on these sites. Most consumers make the mistake of thinking an auction site automatically means they are getting it cheap. You can find some good deals but not on popular and newly released items.Just be careful you arent throwing your money away on a so called deal.If something sounds too good to be true, than it usually is.
