You cannot cram everything in a small shed later on.
A longer shed is better to have than a higher shed in that way.

You do not want to damage these.
Then you should consider the Shed Building Plans for your sheds.

If you aren't a handyman, just stick to the basic and simple ones.
While building your own shed you have to keep these elements in mind.
First up, the foundation of your shed - skid or concrete.
If dampness is not an issue in your place, then you can go in for a skid type as it can be also moved later on.
But if your area does get wet quite often then opt in for a concrete base, the shortcoming being that it cannot be moved like the skid foundation.
Then comes the walls of your shed.
You can either consider wood, vinyl or steel.
This choice depends on the budget you have.
Wood looks quite good and if you have invested a lot in your backyard decoration, certainly this should be option you should go for.
If you are choosing wood, you might need an insulation.
You can accomplish this by using two pieces of plywood and then having a lattice in between them.
Or else use a wide plank.
But then you will need beams and it is also not very efficient in heat retention.
The next thing to consider is the doors of your shed.
This should be quite big, so that you can fit in big things or who knows, may be in future you will use it as a car shed.
So choose your shed building plan accordingly.
But you have to be careful in the measurements while building as the door needs to open and close properly when finished.
As it happens with beginners and at times even with experienced woodworkers, find it difficult to get the alignment right.
Finally something about your shed roof.
It should be durable enough to withstand the elements and also look attractive.
If you are living in an area where it snows, you will have to consider load bearing wight too.
You can go for a flat roof or a triangular roof like the Barn Sheds or the Gable Roof which most people prefer and it is not all that difficult to make it.
All you need additionally is trusses for this type of roofs.
So keep these key elements in mind while building your own shed and it should be helpful in making your shed timely and effectively.
