About Alexandre Bilodeau
Alexandre Bilodeau won the gold medal in freestyle skiing men's moguls on Day 2 of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. What made the victory especially sweet was that it was the first time a Canadian had won a gold medal on home soil after 34 years since the gold medal shutout in the Montreal Olympics in 1976 which continued in the Calgary Olympics in 1988.
The 22 year old moguls skier from Quebec was the 2009 World Cup moguls champion going into the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The favorite in the race was Dale Begg-Smith, a Canadian who skis for Australia, who won the gold medal in Turin in 2006. Begg-Smith came in second in Vancouver, and U.S. skier Bryon Wilson took the bronze. It was Bilodeau's second Olympics. He placed 11th in moguls in the Turin Olympics in 2006.
Alexandre Bilodeau attributed his inspiration to his older brother Frédéric, who has cerebral palsy, and was in the audience cheering.
