Is Bleaching Teeth Necessary and Safe?

Bleaching teeth is safe and necessary too.
It helps to keep the teeth healthy and white.
A tooth is seen white outside because of the enamel that covers it on the outside.
A tooth is structured with an outer layer of enamel that is white and the inner portion just under the enamel is dentin.
This has a normal color of yellow and it's structure is porous and the material from this causes a stain on the enamel as we age.
So simply brushing the teeth cannot remove the stain that is caused by the dentin.
It has to be treated properly and hence bleaching the teeth is required.
Teeth can be bleached safely by soaking it in 30% hydrogen peroxide.
This is ten times more concentrate than the type available in the drug stores.
The peroxide reaches deep through the enamel into the dentin and bleaches out the dark color that causes the stain.
Later it was discovered that even 10% carbamide peroxide solution kept in the mouth will not cause any damage to the gums or the teeth.
The longer it is kept in the mouth, the whiter the teeth become.
Bleaching the teeth using these home remedies are completely safe and are recommended by dentists the world over.
But at the same time, they cause a certain amount of sensitivity to the teeth.
This is because dentin contains ultra small tubules that cause a flow of cell fluids between the sensitive nerve in the centre of the tooth and the outside layer of the tooth's enamel.
But however this may not be a reason to avoid bleaching the teeth as it has not caused any harm to the individual till date.
Bleaching can't remove stains caused due to tooth decay or to fluorosis, a stain caused due to excess amount of fluoride in the drinking water.
Bleaching can also not be an effective way to lessen unbalanced aged horizontal lines seen on people with types of tetracycline stains in the structure of their teeth.
This content of tetracycline is seen in patients who received tetracycline during treatment in their earlier years.
Apart from these long process remedies, short remedies are also there for bleaching teeth.
You can try the whitening toothpastes that have a low concentration of carbamide peroxide.
If you are a good brusher it will brighten your teeth considerably.
You could try the bleach releasing disposable strips known as crest strips.
These are made of plastic and designed that they will stick on to the teeth and the carbamide concentration on these trays will be released to the teeth making them brighter.
If you are doing light or laser bleaching you have to follow a few simple instructions.
You should use a gel made with a 35% solution of hydrogen peroxide instead of the carbamide peroxide.
The hydrogen peroxide gel is stronger than the carbamide and it speeds up the process of whitening without harming the teeth or the gums.
Why should you still be seen with stained teeth for no fault of yours? Take your turn now, get one of the many bleaching methods that are recommended and try it on your teeth, after all your teeth express your beauty when you smile.
Take care of that beauty.
