    • 1). Wrap the antique furniture in plastic, making it airtight.

    • 2). Place the furniture in freezing temperatures for two weeks. This may require keeping it outside during the winter, possibly in the garage. In warmer climates, you may need to find someone with a freezer willing to let you store it. Large libraries use freeze-drying to treat books and may be open to your antique furniture.

    • 3). Leave the furniture bagged for a day after you take it out of freezing temperatures. Allow it to warm up. Otherwise, moisture condensation will form on the furniture. This can affect the wood finish and lead to mold.
