Lines on Your Forehead

Nothing makes you look older than lines on forehead skin.
What causes them? What can you do about them? Do wrinkle creams really work? Here are the answers to those questions.
First, what causes wrinkles, anyway? There are lots of theories about that.
Some make more sense than others.
One of the popular theories is that habitual facial expressions cause them.
But, if that's really true, then why do only older people get wrinkles? Another theory has continued to grow in popularity as scientists have become able to analyze what's going on in the skin at a molecular level.
The theory has to do with UV radiation from the sun and free radical damage.
Some things are not simply theoretical.
We know that the production of new skin cells and elastic fibers decreases with age.
We also know that the level of an important compound called hyaluronic acid decreases with age.
Lately, scientists have been able to see that there are more free radicals and fewer antioxidants in older skin.
It's safe to say that all of these things contribute to lines in forehead skin.
Even genetics may play a role.
So, what can we do about them? There are always options like cosmetic surgery, collagen injections and Botox treatments.
But, the procedures are expensive and don't actually address the causes of wrinkles.
You might say that they cover them up or fill them in.
We can't do much about habitual facial expressions.
They make us who we are.
But, we can do something about all of those other factors, which brings us to the last question.
Do wrinkle creams really work? Well they less or reduce the depth of lines in forehead skin? If they contain the right ingredients, the answer is "yes".
The latest research indicates that non-prescription topically applied creams are just as effective as any other treatment.
One of the ingredients that scientists are most excited about is coenzyme Q10.
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant naturally present in the skin's cells, but the amount that is present is quickly depleted by UV rays from the sun.
That knowledge led researchers to investigate what creams containing it could do to repair sun damage.
One study showed a 30% reduction in wrinkles and fine lines on forehead skin after only six weeks of use.
Other studies have shown similar results.
It isn't the only ingredient to look for.
But, it is definitely one of the best.
