Bad breath is no laughing matter.
For some people it is an occasional embarrassment that is related to eating certain foods whereas for others it is a constant problem that can turn chronic and affect a person's level of self confidence.
When it comes to bad breath treatment and prevention, the most important thing you can do is take excellent care of your oral health, including your teeth, gums and your tongue.
Brush your teeth (and tongue) after every meal, floss every day, and visit your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and a check up.
If you have developed tonsil stones then you need to get rid of them in order to put your bad breath treatment into play.
Try using an oxygenating toothpaste and mouthwash.
Gargle with warm salt water every night.
If the stones do not come out on their own and continue to worsen and cause you pain then visit your doctor right away.
Bad breath treatment and prevention can be as simple as watching what you eat.
There are many foods such as garlic, onions and peppers that can remain in the oils of the mouth for a period of up to 24 hours after they have been eaten.
Brushing your teeth and using mouthwash can mask the odor but not make it go away.
In the same way, spicy meats such as pepperoni, pastrami and salami do not so nice things to the breath and can hang around causing odor problems for at least 24 hours.
There are certain types of cheese you should avoid if bad breath is a problem of yours as well, such as Camembert, Roquefort and blue cheese.
Anchovies and tuna are two other bad breath offenders that you might wish to avoid before a date, an interview or an important social occasion.
Another bad breath treatment that is often overlooked is to drink lots of water.
Water is good for you in so many ways and here is yet another one- water is very clean and it does not stick to the teeth and cause plaque build up like other drinks such as coffee, tea, juices or alcohol.
If all else fails, a bad breath treatment that is good to reach for is an antibacterial mouthwash.
Choose one with an appealing flavor like spearmint or fresh mint and keep it handy for those times when you are not exactly sure how your breath will smell to other people.
