Visit to Goa on Christmas and New Year

Travel plans are made around the world for Christmas and New Year. Like every year these two important dates are going to bring tourists from all across globe to their favorite destinations for celebrations. Countries get ready to receive tourists and organize special events and festivals to attract tourists and to make their travel plans and stay all the more exciting.

 

India is also gearing up to receive tourists. India has many tourist attractions, various festivals which start every year from December going on till January, which attract tourists from across the world. Looking at for vacation, fun and excitement for Christmas and New Year or winter vacations, there are many places to visit in India for tourists like Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala and cities like Nainital, Shimla, Delhi and many more.

 

Different states and cities in India also hold special events especially for tourists. Goa is also known as the party capital of India, which attracts much increased number of tourists around Christmas and New Year. And due to this, every year there are special arrangements and festivals for tourists.

 

November 2014 end saw the famous International Film Fest of India 2014 being held in Goa. This year the Sunburn Goa 2014 will be one of the key attractions for tourists in Goa. Sunburn is an electronics event and is all about sound and music, and also features activities ranging from volleyball, zorbing to stunt biking and bungee jumping.

 

Goa attracts tourists also to its beaches, churches, temples, forts, caves and eco-tourism. There are events in Goa during this period which attract tourists.

 

Beaches are both in North and the South Goa, and North Goa beaches are certainly scenic, yet the South Goa beaches are no less. The beaches in South Goa are Palolem Beach, Agonda Beach, Rajbaga Beach, Cavelossim Beach, Mobor Beach, Varca Beach, Colva Beach, Majorda Beach, Bogmalo Beach, Benaulim Beach and Betul Beach. The beaches in North Goa Calangute Beach, Candolim Beach, Baga Beach, Vagator Beach, Anjuna Beach, Sinquerim Beach, Aguada Beach,                Miramar Beach.

 

The Candolim beach is said to be the first beach where tourists head to on reaching Goa and so remains usually crowded. This beach is called the Queen of Beaches, stretching 7 kilometers and located 15 kms from Panaji. The Colva beach is the oldest and the longest beach of Goa spread over 26 kms, and in fact comprises of several beaches.

 

Goa beaches are certainly popular, making Goa attractive, there are other attractions for visitors to Goa. There are few famous markets in Goa. The flea market which is held every Wednesday at Anjuna Beach where one can get handicrafts, footwear, clothes, jewellery and accessories. The Mapusa Friday Bazaar/Market opens every Friday in Mapusa, south of Chapora river. Local women sell homemade food stuffs like pickles, spices sausages and also coir mats, earthen pots and many more items. If in Arpora Baga area then one can visit the Mackie's Night Bazaar and Saturday Night Market. Mackie's Night Bazaar opens from November till April every year, on every Saturday from 6.00 PM onwards. Then there are Calangute Bazaar every Fridays, Chapora fish market Fish & Produce Market in Siolim Bridge, Morjim and many others. The capital city Panjim is a place to visit which has old colorful Portuguese style homes. Some of the attractions of Panjim are the Goa state museum, Goa science centre, the church of our lady of the immaculate conception, St. Cajetan's church, Basilica of bom jesus, gallery Gitanjali, Pilar museum, Sao Tome Old Quarter and Statue of Abbe Faria.

 

Then there are wildlife centuries which can be visited like the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary in Mollem, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary in Canacona, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary in Valpoi, Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary in Sanguem and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in Chorao.

 

With these many attractions Goa should certainly feature on the list of tourists looking to visit India in winters during Christmas and New Year.
