- 1). Obtain your user name, password and local access number from your dial-up Internet service provider (ISP).
- 2). Connect one end of the telephone cord, with RJ-11 specifications, to the dial-up modem on the side of the laptop that holds the DVD drive bay. Plug the other end of the cord into the telephone outlet in the wall.
- 3). Click "Start" (Windows circle) on the taskbar in the bottom-left corner of the Windows desktop. Type "Network Sharing Center" in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu. Press "Enter" to open the Network and Sharing Center window.
- 4). Click the "Set Up A New Connect or Network" link, which opens a new dialog box. Click to highlight "Set Up a Dial-Up Connection" and then click "Next."
- 5). Click on the name of the dial-up modem hardware, which is usually stated as "Toshiba Software Modem" or a similar name.
