Connect a DirecTV HD DVR to the Internet

    • 1). Hook up your DirecTV HD DVR to your computer network. Connect the telephone cable to the telephone jack on the modem and the telephone wall jack. Turn on the modem. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port on the modem to the "WAN" (or might it be marked "WLAN" or "Internet") to the Ethernet port on the network router. Plug in the network router's power cord and turn it on. Wait for the "WAN" indicator light to come on---a sign that a successful connection to the modem is established. Run another Ethernet cable from an Ethernet port on the network router to the Ethernet port on the computer. Turn on or restart the computer. Use the last Ethernet cable to connect one of the remaining Ethernet ports on the network router to the Ethernet port on the back of the DirecTV HD DVR.

    • 2). Turn on the DirecTV HD DVR and television set.

    • 3). Press "Menu" on the DirecTV remote control to open the menu options. Use the up and down arrow buttons on the remote to highlight "Parental, FAVs, and Setups" and press "Select." Highlight and select "System Setup," "Network Setup" and "Connect Now." Wait for the connection to be established. Select "Continue" and "Done."

Create a DirecTV On Demand Account

    • 1). Launch a Web browser.

    • 2). Go to the DirecTV On Demand website. Mouse over "My Account" in the menu, and click the "Sign In/Create an Account" link. Click on the "No, I am a DirecTV customer but I need a DirecTV.com password" radio button. Enter your email address in the box, and click the "Create an Account" radio button.

    • 3). Fill in the "Customer Verification" form (last name, phone number and zip code). Click "Continue." Fill in the "Account Profile" form. Click "Continue."
