How to Change Patterns in a Broomstick Bass
- 1). Load the Broomstick Bass program into your Mac or PC and boot up. Once the program is running, there will be three individual boxes on the screen to choose from, each consisting of several selections within each one.
- 2). Select the bottom box, as this one allows for manual tailoring of all the existing pre-set patterns. After selecting the desired instrument sound (electric bass, upright, acoustic, etc.), notice the buttons labeled Stop and Bar 1. These allow for manual override of the auto select and gives the user greater control in changing the pre-set patterns.
- 3). Select the modulation wheel section at its top and press stop. This allows users to change the pattern by plugging in an actual bass into the computer. Typically, the Broomstick only plays patterns based on minor, major, and seventh-chord types, so use the manual mode to tweak these patterns based on your already-recorded music.
- 4). Conversely, setting the mod wheel between 10 to 90 percent of its capability lets the bass pattern play notes over a pre-set chord structure. Once the pattern is decided and all the tonal options have been selected, record and save the bass pattern by selecting the appropriate option.
