Imagine working in an office that travels the world daily. Consider a job with Carnival Cruise Lines and this fantasy could become a reality. Carnival Cruise Lines hires employees year-round to run its ships as well as to staff its corporate offices (for those who prefer a stationary work space). A variety of positions are available, depending on your experience and skills. - Destination Shopping Specialists encourage cruise-ship guests to shop ashore and promote high-end luxury items such as fine jewelry, art and traditional souvenirs. Specialists lead presentations on board the ship and distribute recommended and guaranteed shopping maps to guests and promote use of the maps. Specialists also staff the guest-services desk and assist with questions about ports of call and on-shore shopping.
Specialists must also socialize aboard the ship; this includes attending parties and receptions in order to build relationships and increase shopping program exposure. Additionally, specialists must build and maintain relationships with port vendors.
Specialists are paid a weekly base salary plus commission. Room and board and meals are provided while out to sea. As of August 2010, applicants must possess a valid passport, laptop, $1,000 in cash or credit to cover incidental expenses during initial employment and and business attire. They must also take and pass a complete cruise-line physical. - Carnival employs dancers to perform in nightly shows. Dancers must perform in two Las Vegas style shows twice per cruise and assist with ship activities. They must attend weekly rehearsals to prepare for each show and assist with teaching the choreography to new dancers. They must also assist with the upkeep of assigned costumes.
As of August 2010, applicants must have technical training in ballet and jazz and be at least 18 years old. Dancers are hired on a six- to nine-month contract and position benefits include free room and board. - Carnival also hires employees for corporate positions. The Administrative Assistant provides office support, which includes coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining appointments, preparing meeting materials and venues and preparing monthly expense reports.
Qualified applicants are those who can organize, work independently, type at least 60 words per minute and use Hyperion and Microsoft Office programs.
Position benefits include a 401(k), access to the company's fitness facility and day care program and two complimentary cruises per year, as well as discounts for friends and family.
