Scruggs style banjo playing is a technique of three-finger picking on the banjo which was popularized by Earl Scruggs, one of Bluegrass' most legendary players and an original member of Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. Although many people before and since Earl Scruggs have used various finger picking patterns on the banjo, it was the dexterity and mastery with which Scruggs attacked his instrument in this three-finger pattern that made the technique famous.
