Devastating effects as well as the use of long man hours can be the result of water that seeps in through concrete so that it could be repaired and the flaw be corrected. The poor construction of the drainage systems around the foundation usually causes this to happen. Or it can also be because of condensation or water trapped in between the building, inferior construction methods and grading systems and lack of proper concrete foundation waterproofing methods. Waterproofing of concrete foundation makes sure that the water or moisture does not seep in through the concrete of the foundation after the construction is done. Cement, which is the paste that holds the concrete together, has different types and also have different reactions when water is mixed with it. There are various common methods that are advocated by professional construction workers and civil engineers that waterproofs concrete foundations. The most basic and commonly used method is the application of the liquid membranes. The liquid that settles into a substance that is like rubber on top of the concrete will cover all the gaps that might have been left out while the concrete was in the process of settling.

This method of concrete foundation waterproofing is advocated by many professionals because it has resulted to many successful projects. It has proven to be able to be applied fast and it can also last long on the foundation. Using liquid membranes for the process of waterproofing concrete foundation has its downside too: no one can be assured of an even spreadĀ  of the liquid membrane on the concrete. Another method of waterproofing process for concrete foundation is Sheet Membrane. What this uses are rubber asphalt and waterproof polythene film sheets to cover the concrete. The benefits of using this solution is that the great protection from the water is provided by the sheets that quickly stick onto the concrete. They do not only give a uniformed cover for the foundation but the guarantee that there would be no water seeping in is longer.

The disadvantages of this method of concrete foundation waterproofing is its cost and the time that needs to be spent in this process. It can be quite expensive to buy all these materials and can be tasking to set up and applied. Other methods of waterproofing for concrete foundation would be using other products that appear to be cement by a mix of chemicals and cement before even laying the cement foundation. This is the most popular for the construction sites as this method is easy to use and better ability to be mixed and applied.
