    • 1). Open any project, even a new one, and right-click anywhere on AutoCAD's drawing area.

    • 2). Select "Options" from the menu that appears. Choose "Display."

    • 3). Pick "Colors" from the "Display" tab. You'll see a list of different items on the left labeled "Content."

    • 4). Choose "2D Model Space" and then "Uniform Background." This causes a box of color choices to appear.

    • 5). Hit the arrow on the color box to view color options. Select the color black.

    • 6). Click "Apply and Close" and then "OK" to finalize the color-changing process. You'll have a black background from here on out, unless you decide to change it again.
