Trophies, Gifts and Engraving Business
I started my career in the engraving industry as a sales clerk within a supplier of engraving materials.
I had no previous knowledge of their product range but I seized the opportunity to learn about engraving and engraving products.
I worked for approximately five years talking directly to customers who gave me a real understanding of the engraving industry and customer needs and expectations.
From here I took up the challenge of Sales Manager for the engraving materials division and it was while in this role, dealing with customer complaints and issues, that I was able to recognise just how valuable it can be to a company to have a sales team who appreciate and thrive on good customer service values.
In the late 2007, after being made redundant due to the economic crisis, I decided to set up my own business in the early 2008.
In the business we distribute a wide range of laser and rotary engraving materials covering the full spectrum of requirements for just about anybody.
It's of no surprise that my business allows me to put into practise all which I have previously learnt.
in the early days I worked largely on my own and being a tiny person, the product handling in particular proved quite a challenge.
Lifting and packing sheets of stainless steel or four foot square sheets of hard laminate really did keep me in shape! There was times when I wished I'd set up a flower shop or something more traditionally feminine! Now however the company employs a small team of people and I am pleased to say my days of having to man handle large boxes are few and far between.
One of the best things about running my own business is that I get to set up and adapt the way the business works.
As I deal directly with my customers I can exercise absolute freedom to ensure that they get the best possible price and service that we can provide, because without customers there is no business.
Despite the current economic climate the business is still steadily growing.
Recently we introduced a fully equipped cutting facility which allows us to provide all of our laser and rotary, plastic and metal products to be cut to customers' specification.
Our future plans include the introduction of yet more exciting engraving products and to extend onto new range of pewter gifts, for example pewter tankards, pewter goblets and pewter trays.
