Great Fantasy Football Surprises in 2009
The 2009 NFL season has been an interesting one so far, especially in the world of fantasy football.
Some players with high expectations have flopped so far, and others who no one expected much of have emerged into must start players every weekend.
It's interesting how it all works, but that's what we get when it comes to the wild world of pro football.
Without further ado, here are a few players who've been very pleasant surprises so far through the first part of the season.
1.
Pierre Garcon.
This Indianapolis Colts wide receiver has turned from a no name to a bona fide wide receiver in a matter of weeks.
Much of this has to do with the injury of Anthony Gonzalez, out for the season.
Nonetheless, Garcon has been great.
So has his teammate, rookie wide receiver Austin Collie.
2.
Cedric Benson.
So many people doubted Benson and his abilities going into the season.
He had never averaged more than 4 yards per carry in his career, so there was good reason to think he couldn't get it done.
Things are different when Carson Palmer's your QB though.
Benson has been great through the first several weeks of the 2009 football season.
3.
Matt Schaub.
Who would have thought that Matt Schaub would be the second highest fantasy points scorer through the first 5 games of the season, only behind Peyton Manning? Not I, said the fantasy football GM.
Schaub has been brilliant and was a steal in all drafts.
