There are many opinions online about why you should use free reverse cell phone directories.
Most of them are from the owners of these free directories or their affiliates.
The bottom line is the word free used with cell phone is just a lure to get you to their site.
Once you are there, they will ask for all of your personal information before you can search for your unidentified cellular phone number.
Then you will find out that the number you are requesting is not in their free database because the truth is it never was.
The only numbers they have in their free databases are home phones or business phone numbers.
You know the landlines that are public to everyone basically anywhere.
They also know that mobile phone numbers and unlisted numbers are protected by privacy laws and cannot be made public for free.
Now they will tell you that you will need to pay a fee to obtain the information on the cell number you are searching, but this still does not guarantee that they even have the information you are searching for.
The scary part of this whole thing is now they have your personal information that they can sell to anyone.
So if you have done this be prepare to receive more unidentified calls from god knows who.
In my research the best reverse cell phone directories are not free.
They are the ones that will tell you upfront that there will be a fee for the information.
They will also not ask for any of your personal information before doing a search.
They will allow you to search your unidentified number to make sure it is in their database before you pay anything.
They will also tell you up front that they will have almost all of the mobile phone numbers in their database, because no one has 100% of these numbers listed.
Avoid any company that says they have 100% of all mobile phone numbers in their databases.
You will also be offered different options depending on your search needs.
You can do a one time search or you can purchase a 12 month option that will allow you to do unlimited searches.
The fees for these services are very reasonable ranging from around $14 dollars for the one time search to $39 dollars for the 12 month option.
I hope this article will help clear up some things for you on why you do not want to go with a free service.
Most times the free part ends up costing you more.
