Motocross Madness 2 Problems
- One of the most common problems that gamers experience with "Motocross Madness 2" is that the game cannot be played on their computers or that the game malfunctions while being played. The reason for such problems is usually that the gamer's operating system does not meet the game's requirements. The operating systems required are Windows 95, 98, ME or XP. Your computer must also have a 300 Pentium II or higher or a 233 Pentium II or higher with 8 MB 3-D video acceleration (see References). You must also have 200 MB of hard-disk space available on your computer and a DirectX 7 video card. Check that your computer meets all of these requirement before installing the game.
- A common problem when installing Motocross Madness 2 is a error message that reads, "Setup cannot install system files or update shared files if the files are in use. Before continuing, close any open applications." This problem is caused when another Windows operating-system program is running and being updated at the same time you're installing the game. A program could be installing without you even knowing, so your best option is to close programs like Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. Another option is to restart your computer and not open any programs until the game has been completely installed.
- If "Motocross Madness 2" quits abruptly while it's being played and you're using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1, then you may have experienced a problem with a video player not being installed. You might also see a message after the game quits that reads, "Video not available - cannot find 'VIDS:IV50' decompressor (see References)." The game is trying to play a video that requires the Indeo video codec and that codec is not included in the Windows XP Home Edition SP1. This problem can be fixed by downloading the "327979" update from the Windows Update website (See Resources).
- Another problem experienced with "Motocross Madness 2" is when the game stops responding or the gamer receives a message that says a newly installed controller cannot be detected. This is likely because "Motocross Madness 2" requires a primary game controller to be installed before starting the game. This issue is easily resolved by uninstalling a controller and using only keyboard controls. To do this, stop the game and uninstall the controller. Then restart the game and click on the "Options" button in the main menu. In the controls section, change the option for controller to "Keyboard."
- Some of the more common gameplay issues that gamers have encountered include the lack of realistic gravity in the jumps, which make controlling the jumps tricky. Players have complained about how the bike will remain in the air for too long (see References). Also, the bikes have exaggerated slides. But the unrealistic gameplay is not something that can be fixed. Other problems include no music being played during the game, wheelie tricks not counting for points, and easily crashing when landing. These are gameplay difficulties that are a result of the game's design, and it takes patience and skill to master them.
