How Do I Cancel a Shipment of Something I Ordered Online?
- 1). Locate your copy of your original sales invoice or receipt. If you no longer have a copy, turn on your computer and connect to the Internet. Go back to the website that you made your purchase from and enter your account. Look for your recent order and re-display the information. Print a new receipt copy.
- 2). Pick up the phone and call your retailer involved in the sale. Discuss the need to reverse the sale and stop the shipment. Work with the seller to reverse your charge and pay any shipping and handling costs if your package has not yet left. Request that the seller direct the shipper to return the package if it is already in transit. Ask the retailer to send you a refund receipt if the seller agrees to either option.
- 3). Wait for the shipper to attempt to deliver the package. Refuse the delivery, keeping in mind that you may need to turn down delivery three times with some shippers. Track the shipping back to the seller to confirm it was returned. Contact the seller again and politely request a refund.
- 4). Call your credit card company to reverse the charge if the seller refuses. Send your credit card company a copy of the refused shipping tracking to prove the goods were returned to support your complaint.
