If you are a little more conscious about what you do with the things you have once you no longer need them, you may often wonder what you should do with good pieces of furniture when they no longer suit your home's needs.
If you've recently redone your living room you may have gone for the more economical changes to your home, like getting a new set of more attractive end tables.
But, what are you going to do with your old ones? You don't want to throw them out and end up adding to the landfill situation, you want to keep them alive as long as you can to keep from being wasteful.
Sell Them If you just put a lot of money into new end tables, you may want to get a little money back on your old ones if they are still in very good shape.
There are a few places you can go to try and sell them off.
Selling Online Many people like the convenience of computers and you can do almost anything online these days.
This includes selling your old end tables.
Here are a couple places to try: eBay - The online auction site eBay is a venue to sell anything.
If you can write up a great description of your tables, put a picture up so potential buyers can see them and offer them at a good price, you may well be able to find a new home for your old ones while getting a few dollars back in your pocket.
Craigslist - Online classified sites like Craigslist are a great place to offer your old end tables for sale.
There are a lot of people in your area that will be watching for the things they need on the website as well as those who are further away and may be interested if you have pieces that are in high demand.
Selling Offline Consignment - If the tables you have are unique pieces, you may want to check with a consignment store in your area about selling them through their organization.
Many stores charge 20% - 40% for items that sell so make sure you mark the price to one where you will still get back the money you want.
Garage sale - You could always wait until garage sale season and offer the end tables up for sale with other things that no longer fit your home décor.
Give Them Away There are plenty of places to give old tables away to those who can use them.
Freecycle.
org - Freecycle.
org is a website where you can list items you no longer need and people in your area, who can use them, will come to you and take them off your hands.
Talk to your church - Want to help your church out? Most churches work with charities of their own or hold rummage sales to raise funds.
Your old furniture can help them make some much needed cash.
Drop off at a donation site - There are plenty of charities out there that will help people find the furniture and other goods they need in their homes.
Talk to charities you trust and donate your tables to them, so they can go to someone who really needs them.
