Disney Is Still Magic In The Rain

Disney has many theme parks around the world and usually the weather is good; but when it rains is there anything to do except look for a place to stay dry? There is a lot to do, a Disney theme park doesn't shut down because of the rain. Depending on how much rain is coming down since some rides will close if it's raining too hard, you can take advantage of the shorter lines. Most people don't like to get out in the rain since it can throw a damper on a good day but enjoying a day outside at the 'Happiest Place on Earth' is still feasible.

Since the rain usually doesn't last all day there are still many things you can do in these theme parks. You can visit some of the shops and see what the latest mouse fashions are and since the rain will bring cooler temperatures you can grab a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate, for something sweet, and people watch or even grab a good seat and watch one of the many parades go by.

There are lots of indoor rides that you can have fun on and many of the lines to wait in are covered. The lines will be significantly shorter so you jump off the ride and jump back into line and keep riding until you have had your fill. If you are less concerned about the weather and more about having fun then you might even check the forecast for an overcast day. On a rainy day less people will walk through the gate and you can feel like you have the whole park to yourself.

If it does start to sprinkle some of the rides will still stay open. There are rain sensors on the tracks of many rides and those will determine whether or not the ride will stay open. The more popular rides which have the longest lines will start to thin out because people don't want to get wet while riding. Parents especially don't want to expose their kids to raining or dreary weather but don't most kids love to play in the rain anyway. Disney does not offer any discounts because of rain, they do try to accommodate those who want to stay. You can buy a yellow Mickey Mouse slicker to keep most of your clothes dry.

If you do decide to battle the rain then dress for fun. The ponchos that these theme parks sell are cute but after the rain stops they will heat up and become uncomfortable. Bring a jacket with a hood, its easier to carry than an umbrella and less dangerous to people around you. Most of the seats will be wet so unless you want to have a soggy backside bring something to sit on like a hoodie or jacket. Bring a hat so you can keep some of the rain off your face.

The rides that are inside are the best when it's raining. Some of the lines to get into these rides such as Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear and Pirates of the Caribbean might be outside but if you plan for the weather even a little bit of rain won't ruin your time at any of the Disney theme parks that you visit.
