Why it"s So Difficult to Lose Weight

A majority of Americans and other nations influenced by the Western culture are obsessed with their appearances. We shell out billions on makeup, fashionable clothing, hair coloring, exercise, and weight loss.

However, of that group of people, about half do not actually maintain their ideal weight. Why is this?

Of all the methods of being attractive mentioned above, losing and keeping off excess weight is the hardest to accomplish.

It takes no willpower to apply some makeup.

anybody can go down and purchase those hot True Religion jeans that sell for $300.00. There's no exertion involved in visiting a hair salon or tanning booth.

Losing weight and staying slim, on the other hand, requires more effort. To do this, a person has to cut down on healthy foods and entirely do away with unhealthy foods altogether.

Not only is there the dread of eating right, there's also the challenge of exercising. This also requires willpower and self control.

Another road block to losing weight is the time needed to see it through. It only takes a few minutes to buy some trendy clothes. You might only spend one hour getting your hair colored or styled. Putting on makeup only takes women a half hour, or how ever long their drive is to work.

But losing weight could take months or even years! That's an eternity to us impatient Americans! We want things NOW! We're an instant-gratification culture!

And this concept of willpower and self-discipline. That's not part of our culture. We're lazy and slothful! We don't want to put forth energy or work to achieve something!
Weight loss is more than just a fashion statement.

Being clinically obese or even just overweight is not only visually unappealing, it's downright unhealthy and physically dangerous. It can lead to other ,more severe illnesses and diseases.

Obesity can lead to high blood sugar, diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, and arthritis. It can also cause high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and cellulite. Extreme obesity can cause death in itself!

What does it take to lose weight?

Sometimes sheer willpower isn't enough. Some people do have that trait and can power through the desire to eat the wrong foods in excess. Sadly, most Americans do not possess this ability. The following are some techniques I recommend for losing weight.

One way to make weight loss less difficult is to use the €buddy system€. Team up with your spouse or a close friend. It's easier to lose weight when you are doing it with someone else. I know from personal experience. When my wife and I lose weight together, it seems much easier.

Reward yourself with one €free day€ once a week. This is one day per week that you're off your diet. Eat whatever you please. Devour that fatty hamburger or pizza. Enjoy that bowl of ice cream or piece of pie, or both! I find that having one free day per week makes it easier to be diligent the other six days.

become a member of a weight loss program. Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, or a number of other reputable companies are good ways to lose weight. My sister joined one group and lost 100 pounds! She's now a spokesperson for that company and makes a living as a coach! It was a win-win for her!

Finally, bear in mind that losing weight will take time. Losing a pound a week seems like it will take an eternity, but before you know it, those months have gone by and you're at your ideal weight! And always remember that weight loss is not a €one time€ event. It's a way of life.

Eating healthy and exercising is something you should do the remainder of your life. Then you'll really look good with that fancy hairdo, tanned skin, and wearing those expensive designer jeans!
