    • 1). Choose a medium to use. Posterboard is more flexible and can be rolled up. Wood is more durable and can be stored flat.

    • 2). Cut your wood or posterboard to the correct size. Most game boards are in a square or rectangle, but there are some that are in the shape of a circle or even a triangle. It's your game, so it's up to you.

    • 3). Create your game board. You may choose to cut a piece of thick art paper in the size of your game board and draw on that, or you can draw directly on your board.

    • 4). Draw out your game spaces and artwork in pencil first to get every detail right. Then go over your work with black marker. Create any art work on the board and don't forget to put the name of the game somewhere that it can be seen. Color in any details.

    • 5). Spray the board with a spray glue and stick the art pape,r, if using, on the board.

    • 6). Seal your artwork. Laminate boards that are thin enough. For a wood word, use a gloss sealant--they come in the forms of spray and paint and are available at any craft store.
