Nicole and Rafe
At the DiMera mansion, Nicole is refusing to go to the convent with Rafe, who threatens to call Sami and E.J. Rafe begins to call E.J., and she grabs the phone and tells him not to. Nicole insists that the last thing E.J. needs is to be bothered by Rafe and his crazy theories. She reluctantly agrees to go with him to see that “lunatic nun” in order to get Rafe off her back. She retrieves her purse and begins to make a phone call, but he grabs her phone away from her.
Rafe agrees to hand it back as soon as they see Sister Theresa and she ID’s Nicole as the woman who led Sami to Dr. Baker’s clinic. Nicole continues to deny knowing Sister Theresa. Rafe and a very reluctant Nicole walk out.
Arianna, Brady, and Victor
At the Kiriakis mansion, Arianna calls Brady, but he ignores it. Victor emerges and flashes back to ordering Arianna to dump Brady. He invites Brady to join him for lunch at the pub, but Brady declines, stating that the pub is the last place where he wants to be. Brady reveals that Arianna ended things between them. Victor suggests that maybe it’s for the best, since Arianna obviously has poor judgement in letting Brady get away.
At the Java Café, a distressed Arianna calls Rafe and leaves him a message, insisting that she needs her big brother.
The Park
Sami encounters E.J. and Sydney. She asks if he got the photos of Johnny, which Marlena took in Switzerland. He says he did and thanks her. Sydney begins crying and a concerned Sami approaches her.
E.J. tells Sami to keep her hands off his daughter. Sami asks why he pushed her away from Sydney. He doesn’t want her to have anything to do with Sydney. Sami says it’s too late for that, since she and Sydney have gotten close, revealing that she baby-sat for her. She recounts how Nicole came over exhausted, so Sami offered to take Sydney out so Nicole could catch a nap. E.J. wonders if Nicole was awake when Sami got back home. Sami reveals that Rafe was there, but he and Nicole weren’t getting along. Sami wonders if Nicole ever talks to him about Rafe, recalling how Rafe was hostile towards Nicole, who gave him hell in return.
“Why would Nicole be giving Rafe hell?” questions E.J. Sami doesn’t know, but guesses that they can’t stand each other. E.J. rehashes how Rafe came into his house and spied on his family, stating that Nicole sees Rafe for exactly who he is. Sami refers to Rafe as a wonderful, kind, strong, supportive guy. “He’s the best man I know,” she adds. E.J. refers to Rafe as a jack*ss, in disbelief that Sami was going to let Rafe be a father to his daughter. Sami states that he’s not honoring Grace’s memory by carrying on with all this bitterness. E.J. urges Sami to imagine having a child that was ripped from her arms as soon as she gave birth, wondering if she would just get over it. Sami cries that she can’t even think about it. Brady emerges and wonders what’s going on. “Nothing,” replies E.J. before he leaves. Brady asks if Sami’s alright, and she’s just glad he came when he did.
Brady and Sami
Brady and Sami head to the Java Café, where he shares his woman troubles. Sami can’t believe that Ari’s ex is back in the picture. Brady thinks there’s more to Arianna’s story, since it doesn’t add up. He expresses how sorry he is about Sami and Rafe and wishes he could do something to help.
Philip and Melanie
Philip comes over to Maggie’s house to see Melanie, who assumes that he’s going to blame her for the whole sex video ordeal and for Steph breaking up with him. She is surprised when he says he’s sorry and wonders what he’s sorry for. “I’m sorry because I doubted you,” laments Philip.
Philip admits that at first he thought Melanie posted the video online, but Bo set him straight. He is mad at himself for suspecting she would do something like that. Melanie begins to cry when Philip recalls how sweet she was after they spent the night together. “Will you forgive me?” he asks. Melanie says she does. “Thank you for being the one person I can trust,” expresses Philip. Melanie appears touched to hear this. Philip refers to the two of them as kindred spirits, insisting that he’s never met anyone who could see inside his soul the way she does. He admits that he sees inside her soul as well, referring to her as a great friend. He hugs her.
The Brady Nightmare
Bo is on the phone at the pub talking to someone about a witness seeing Brenda kissing another man at a hotel. After he hangs up, he vows to make sure the third kidnapper gets what he deserves.
At Bo and Hope’s house, Dean is flicking his lighter repeatedly when Ciara comes downstairs. “Mommy!” she yells. Hope embraces Ciara and asks what’s wrong. She picks Ciara up and encourages her to tell Mommy what’s upsetting her. “It’s him,” whispers Ciara.
Hope slowly sets Ciara down and stares at Dean for a moment. “What are you looking at, Detective?” questions Dean. Hope claims she was thinking about his reward and doesn’t want him to have to wait any longer, but they’ll have to go to the bank. He recalls how she said she was going to have the money wired into his account. Hope confirms this, but states that it’s quicker if they’re actually at the bank. She suggests dropping Ciara off at her grandmother’s and the two of them can head to the bank. The phone rings, but he tells her to let the machine get it. Bo leaves a message in regards to the third kidnapping suspect. Hope is eager to head out, but Dean stands in front of the door and wonders what her hurry is. She insists that she wants him to get the reward money. Dean pulls out his gun and declares that he’s calling the shots now. He warns that if Hope doesn’t do exactly what he says, Ciara will be dead.
Back at the pub, Justin walks in and Bo wonders if he got the money transferred from Hope’s account into Dean’s. Justin confirms that he took care of it for Hope. Bo resents that Justin is at Hope’s beck and call, complying with her every wish. He questions why Justin can’t just leave it alone. “Because Hope needed support, and I wasn’t about to deny her that just because it was gonna piss you off!” asserts Justin.
