How to Conceal a Widescreen TV
- 1). Purchase or build an entertainment center or armoire that has drawers on the bottom half and long adjustable shelves in the top, with solid doors that shut, hiding the shelving inside. For ideas, look in the bedroom section of your local furniture store as well as the living room area.
- 2). Place the piece of furniture in your house in the desired location.
- 3). Adjust the shelves so that your widescreen TV can sit on the base shelf with the first shelf a few inches above the top of the TV.
- 4). Situate your TV on the base shelf. Put any DVD players or dish receivers on the shelf above it and connect any wires necessary for operation. Place movies, games and blankets in the drawers under the widescreen TV.
- 5). Shut the solid doors to conceal the TV and other electronic equipment.
- 1). Purchase or build an entertainment center that has multiple shelves, at least one of which is tall enough or can be adjusted to accommodate your widescreen TV.
- 2). Situate the piece of furniture as desired in the room of your choice.
- 3). Place your widescreen TV, DVD player, dish receiver and movies on the shelves as you desire.
- 4). Go to your local fabric store and purchase fabric that goes with the decor of your room. You will need to measure before leaving to see how much fabric you will need. (Measure how far across the entertainment center is, how wide the curtains will need to be to cover the opening of each shelf and how many shelves you have. Add extra inches to the length of the curtains to allow them to gather to add style.) Purchase the fabric. You can use different fabrics or the same, depending on your personal preference.
- 5). Cut the fabric to the desired length and width and hem it 1/4 inch on all sides. Hem in a pocket along the top of each panel. Install a dowel or curtain rod at the top of each opening on the entertainment center. Thread a rod through the pocket of each panel and then hang the rods with the curtains over each opening. Pull the curtains across the opening to conceal the TV and other electronic devices.
