How to Use Charcoal Chimneys
- 1). Roll two sheets of newspaper into tubes and bend the tubes to form a circle.
- 2). Place each roll of newspaper one on top of the other inside the charcoal chimney starter with the grate end at the bottom. Looking into the chimney starter, you will see a hole at the bottom that allows air to move the fire along.
- 3). Fill the chimney with as much charcoal as you need and set the chimney inside your grill or on a fire-safe surface.
- 4). Light a match and ignite the rolled newspaper through one of the slots at the bottom of the chimney starter.
- 5). Pick up the chimney starter by the handle using a hot mitt when the coals glow orange and turn the starter upside-down to pour the coals into your grill. Use the lip of the chimney to rake the coals into an even layer across the grill. You are ready to cook.
