How to Produce Solar Power System - The Basic Components of a Solar Power System

Solar power, in fact, is already in use in many remote places around the globe, where solar systems are more practical than laying the necessary high voltage lines.
Coupled with the impressive rate of technological development, this makes the prospect of providing solar power for house after house certainly possible.
Something that was once only practical for remote and out of the way places now has the significant potential of appealing to a wider range of users.
The most basic solar energy collection and power generation system consists of four parts.
First are the solar collectors themselves, the photovoltaic or PV cells.
These are flat panels that produce electricity when they are struck by sunlight.
The amount of electricity produced is related to the surface area exposed and the intensity of sunlight received.
This means, when considering solar power for house use, that it is important to allocate enough space for PV panels.
It also means that their positioning is very important in maximizing their efficiency.
Some setups have motors that automatically face the panels in the optimal direction, following the sun as it moves across the sky.
Then there are the batteries.
These batteries store the energy that the PV panels produce so that it may be used later.
This is very helpful since the PV panels can only produce energy during the daytime! In a system that produces solar power for home use, not having power during the night would be a fatal flaw.
Other important components include charge controllers, which prevent the batteries from being overcharged, and from leaking charge back into the PV panels.
Finally, converters take the direct current produced by the panels and stored in the batteries and converts it into alternating current or AC, used by most electric appliances.
This turns the power generated by the system using the sun's energy into the same form as what comes out of our electric sockets.
A good understanding of these components is crucial in putting together a workable system to provide solar power for house and your own use.
