How to Make Camera Flash Accessories
- 1). Flash rings are great for portrait shots because they create a unique effect or lighted ring around the subject. Start by cutting the bottom off of a milk jug.
- 2). Lay the milk carton flat on a smooth surface and place your camera's lens on top of the plastic. Make sure that half of the lens is touching the milk carton and the other half is not. With the marking pen, trace a semi-circle around your lens onto the milk carton.
- 3). Cut out the half circle with the scissors. Fit the cut, open half circle around your lens so that the top half of the plastic is blocking the flash from your camera.
- 1). A flash bouncer redirects your flashes' light so it doesn't hit your subject directly. This works well if you want to light different areas of your subject.
- 2). Place the business card at a 45-degree angle to the vertical flash. Most cameras with a pop-up flash will have a nice little slot in the corner where the flash connects to the camera body.
- 3). If your flash is smaller than the card, cut the card down to size so it fits and use tape, if necessary, to keep it in place at a 45-degree angle.
- 1). A flash diffuser reduces the effects of a harsh flash by spreading the light out over an area, rather than coming from a single point. Start by cutting out a large square of the white craft foam, enough to cover the flash.
- 2). Wrap the foam around the flash so that it is covered.
- 3). Secure the foam in place with elastic, like a large rubber band, or masking tape.
