One of the most important things you need to learn is setting goals, both short term and long term.
Now, you must keep your goals realistic but yet you must shoot higher than you have in the past.
You cannot get by with the same negative mindset you have had in the past.
You must change the way you think! Perhaps you have heard the old saying, "If you shoot for the stars, you will at least hit something".
This is true.
Yet at the same time, you want to set reasonable short term goals that are attainable.
Do not set a goal of losing 20 pounds in two weeks or losing 10 pounds this weekend.
If you see advertisements claiming or implying you can do this by simply taking their "magic" supplement do not believe it! The way you will reach your goals is through hard work, time, and old fashioned discipline! Oh, by the way, do not compare yourself with others.
I know this is a hard thing to resist because its human nature to compare ourselves with one another but your goals are for your own personal best not outdoing or keeping up with someone else.
Setting goals regarding my progress in weightlifting, diet, and other areas has been a key asset in my life.
I believe that our words have power.
I also believe that our thoughts have power, which causes our words to eventually come out, whether they are positive or negative.
Most of the average person's thoughts are negative.
Negative thoughts produce negative words and negative words produce negative results! So, why not learn to have positive thoughts.
Just reading this book should motivate you and inspire you to take action.
The following are some positive statements you should be thinking and saying to yourself and to others: o I love eating healthy foods.
o I can lose body fat because I am determined.
o I am getting more in shape every day.
o I am the only one responsible for my results.
o Whatever it takes, I will do it! o I will take care of my body because I have a unique purpose to fulfill.
o I have time to do this because I am committed to it.
o I feel great making the changes in my life for the better.
I want to give you a word of advice.
Let the mirror speak louder than the scales.
In other words, if you look better in the mirror but the scale only shows you lost one pound or none at all let the mirror be the judge.
You are not merely trying to lose weight; you are trying to lose fat.
You see, you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time.
Some of the weight you see on the scale is muscle, bones, internal organs, and water.
So, the scale may not reflect the body fat lost in the first several weeks of your new eating habits.
If you see a difference in the mirrors, your clothes are fitting better and people are commenting on your weight loss then rejoice! People give up too easily and too soon.
They make excuses for not losing weight.
It is said that we are what we eat.
Well, it can also be said, "We are what we think.
"If one really wants to lose weight bad enough he/she will find a way.
