How to Power the Polycom Voicestation 100
- 1). Position your Polycom in a central area, preferably in the middle of a conference table, so that the speaker is easily accessible to all parties. Avoid situating a VoiceStation 100 in a room with non-sound-absorbing walls and ceilings. Choose a room with soft attributes such as carpets and curtains. Keep the area surrounding the VoiceStation 100 free of objects, such as paper, cell phones, and computers. Speak into the device as you would speak normally, as opposed to yelling or raising your voice.
- 2). Plug the power supply (an oblong unit with a power jack, telephone line ports, and prongs in the back) into a functional AC outlet preferably located close to the VoiceStation. Insert the power supply unit into the wall outlet with the prongs weighted at the top of the device, so that the slimmer portion of the power supply is facing down.
- 3). Plug the console cable into the bottom of the VoiceStation 100 by turning the VoiceStation 100 over onto its face and locating the telephone line jack. Insert the plastic connector piece of the console cable into the jack until it clicks into place. Turn the VoiceStation 100 right side up. Insert the loose end of the console cable into the center telephone line jack on the left side of the bottom of the power supply. The VoiceStation 100 will begin running a self-test to let you know it is receiving power.
- 4). Connect the supplied short telephone line into the left telephone line jack on the bottom of the power supply. Insert the loose end of the short telephone line into a function wall telephone line jack. Push the "Volume" buttons (located on the front panel of the VoiceStation 100) to bring the volume up to a comfortable listening level. Push the "On/Off" button (located on the left side of the front panel of the VoiceStation 100) to activate the phone speaker. You should hear a dial tone if it is working correctly.
