Toddler nap mat is one of the necessities of your kids, it can be use anywhere. It will be such a big help for parents out there most especially if they are going out of town or having a trip. They are also a requirement for many daycare and preschool programs that cater to toddlers.

Kids sleep patterns change overtime. While your baby may have needed two naps a day, you may find that as he progresses in his toddler years, one short nap in the afternoon is more than sufficient. Putting him down for regular naps is important to his health and development. Establishing a regular nap time can help avoid some kids sleeping problems and will keep them happy, healthy and more alert.

Some preschools and daycares want parents to provide atleast one. It gives toddlers a soft place to rest and nap during the day. Having a nap mats especially for each child has a purpose. It keeps children from sharing germs and head lice, and it keeps any bed-wetting problems contained to a toddler's personal mat. Keeping the mats individualized is a more sanitary practice for daycares and preschools.

Toddler nap mats are not all the same, they differ from each other in style, color, textures and quality. If you are going to buy one you should consider three things before purchasing one, these are; washability, comfort and antibacterial materials.

Washability means that it can be thrown into the washing machine and come out in good shape. You don't want it fading, tearing, fraying or splitting its seams from washing and drying. Make sure that the stuffing won't clump with repeated washings. You want it to last past a few washings and come out clean and ready to use again.

Antibacterial means mats repel germs rather than absorbing them. You don't want germs being absorbed into the stuffing or soft cover and staying there, breeding, until the next time the mat is used.

And the last one is comfort; this one is the most important factor to consider in purchasing one. Remember that it is the only thing between them and a hard floor. Preschool nap mats should be about two inches thick for maximum comfort on a floor. Make sure they're covered in a soft material at least on one side.

Having one can help make nap time more inviting when your toddler is away from home. It can easily be rolled up which makes them great for traveling with. Some of those even come with built in pillows and blankets that are sewn onto one side of the mat, making sleeping on it much more comfortable. They can also be sent along to your toddler's daycare, which may help him look forward to napping.
